Leaders and Learners Issue 9
Good Afternoon - Berry Transportation has sent an updated bus route overview that will start 11/27/2023. Please review by going to the following link. https://5il.co/235aj This updated overview comes with the very exciting and long awaited addition of a bus. Starting on Monday 11/27/2023 the Whitefield and Twin Mountain bus formerly known as bus #121 (Pink Line) will now be separated. The Whitefield students will continue to ride bus #121 (pink Line) However will be arriving home approximately 40 minutes earlier. The Twin Mountain Students will now be riding bus #114 (Yellow Line) and no other changes should be made to their schedule. A couple side notes are the few Jefferson students that now board bus #100 in Whitefield at 2:15pm will now dismiss at regular dismissal time of 2:25pm and will board bus #121 (Pink Line) and then transfer to bus #106 (Blue Line) at WMRHS. The students in Bretton Woods and at The Mount Washington Hotel will no longer be on bus 9. They will now ride bus #114 (Yellow Line). This should have very little effect on their home arrival time. The students and families that will be most affected are the ones who live on Jefferson Rd and Bray Hill. Thank you!

At last week's board meeting, the Board took action to have an early dismissal day on April 8, 2024. This particular date coincides with the total solar eclipse. This decision was made in consideration of the recommendation provided by the Lancaster Chief of Police, who highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety of our students during the eclipse. Teachers will be preparing educational activities centered around the eclipse and will spend some of the morning preparing the children for the once in a lifetime event. Dismissal will be the same time as our other early dismissal times. You will get updated notification when the time gets closer. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in making this event a safe and educational experience for our students.

Subject: Continuation of Advisory Committee for 7/8 Transition Dear WMRSD Family Members, We are writing to inform you about the continuation of the Advisory Committee to the School Board for a transition within our district. This transition involves studying the impact of relocating all 7th and 8th graders to Lancaster Elementary School while moving all Prekindergarten students to Whitefield School. We want to share the rationale behind this study for proposed change: Aligning Programs: Our goal is to create consistency and ensure a high-quality educational experience for all students by aligning programs between the two elementary schools. This will result in a more streamlined curriculum and the sharing of valuable resources. Inability to Staff Middle School Positions: Addressing the ongoing challenge of staffing middle school positions at both schools is a top priority. Staffing shortages can impact the quality of instruction and the overall learning experience for our students, as well as placing undue stress on our existing staff. Early Childhood Model: We recognize the importance of early childhood education and the need to provide our youngest learners with a strong foundation. Establishing an early childhood model at Whitefield Elementary will offer a nurturing environment for our pre-kindergarten children. Possible Fiscal Impact: This study will assess the potential fiscal impact of these changes to ensure responsible fiscal management. We are committed to allocating resources efficiently to support our students' educational needs. As this study progresses, we emphasize our commitment to transparency and open communication. Your insights, concerns, and suggestions are invaluable in shaping the final decisions. We will keep you informed about the study's progress and the timelines for gathering your input. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. Together, we will work towards providing the best educational experience for all our students. Best, Marion 7/8 Advisory Committee to the Board Members established 2022: Mike Cronin, Mike Curtis, Nichol Jones, Jessica Kenyon, George Brodeur, Beth Ridley, Beth Lufkin, Rob Scott, Chris Eaton, Marion Anastasia, Evelyn Flynn (Board Rep), James Akerman (Vice Chair), Scott Holmes (Chair)

Dear WMRSD  Families, Welcome back to a new school year! It is with great enthusiasm that we open our doors once again to our students,  families, and staff. As we embark on this exciting journey together, I want to take a moment to express our sincere appreciation for your continued trust in our educational community. At WMRSD, we firmly believe that a strong partnership between parents, teachers, and administrators is essential for the success of our students. Open lines of communication form the foundation upon which we can best support our children's growth and learning. I encourage each of you to establish and maintain regular contact with your child's teachers and principals throughout the year. Whether it's discussing your child's progress, addressing concerns, or sharing valuable insights about their individual needs, your input plays a vital role in their education journey. Creating a safe and nurturing learning environment remains our top priority. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety protocols to ensure that our schools are places where your children can learn, explore, and flourish without worry. Our dedicated team has worked diligently to implement thorough safety measures, taking into account the latest guidelines and best practices. Our curriculum is not only academically rigorous but also intentionally designed to educate the whole child. We understand that education extends beyond textbooks and classrooms. Our educators are committed to fostering emotional intelligence, social skills, and character development. This holistic approach prepares our students to thrive not only in their academic pursuits but also in their personal lives and future careers. Building and maintaining relationships within our school community is another cornerstone of our educational philosophy. We believe that a sense of belonging is crucial for a fulfilling educational experience. By cultivating strong relationships, we create an environment where students feel valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. We encourage students to engage in clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities that allow them to connect with peers who share their interests. In addition to academics, I want to bring your attention to an important aspect of our community support. Please consider completing the Free and Reduced Meal application. This not only ensures that your child receives healthy meals but also contributes to additional aid for our town. The resources generated from these applications help us provide a more enriched educational experience, reducing the burden on local taxes and enhancing the opportunities available to all our children. Online Free and Reduced Meal Application and meal payments here: linqconnect.com Remember, I am always here for you. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please feel free to contact me at manastasia@sau36.org or 603-837-9363. Together, we can make this school year an incredible journey of growth, discovery, and success for every child in our care. Here's to a wonderful new school year!
